Service 04 ยท Shutdown
Shutdown and maintenance project support.
Most shutdown problems are made in the planning. Veristruct scopes the work, builds the work packs and the engineering content, and supports the window by arrangement for the defect nobody planned for.
When to call
- A shutdown is being scoped and the engineering content is not there yet.
- Work packs, repair procedures or ITPs need to be ready before the window opens.
- There is no internal engineer to make calls when defects turn up mid-shutdown.
- A contractor needs technical scopes and an estimating basis to price the work.
What Veristruct provides
- Scopes of work that define the task, the inclusions and the exclusions, so the work can be priced, planned and checked.
- Work packs with task steps, materials, drawings and the engineering content each job needs.
- Repair and weld procedures for known defects, prepared before the window rather than during it.
- Inspection and Test Plans with hold and witness points, so quality is checked at the right time and signed off by the right person.
- An estimating basis for effort and duration that planners and contractors can work from.
- Engineering support during the shutdown, remote or on site by arrangement, for the defects found once the plant is opened up.
- Close-out records: what was found, what was done and what needs watching next time.
Decisions under pressure, written down
The hardest calls in a shutdown come when a defect turns up that nobody planned for: repair now, defer and monitor, or replace. Veristruct gives a written engineering recommendation on photographs and measurements, with the reasoning recorded, for the site to decide on. Where the site will rely on the outcome for structural adequacy, including a decision to defer, independent review by a registered engineer is scoped straight away.
What you receive
- Scopes of work and work packs
- Estimating basis
- Repair procedures, weld procedures and ITPs

Questions Asked
Shutdown support FAQs.
How early should we get in touch?
As soon as the scope is taking shape. Repair procedures, long-lead materials and any design that needs independent review take time, and the shutdown window does not move.
Can you be on site during the shutdown?
Yes, by arrangement, with travel from Mudgee quoted as its own line. Many shutdowns can be supported remotely, with a site visit for the critical days.
What happens when a defect turns up that nobody planned for?
Send photographs and measurements. You get a written recommendation on whether to repair now, defer with monitoring, or replace, with the reasoning recorded, for the site to decide on. Where the site will rely on it for structural adequacy, independent review and certification are scoped straight away.
Do you do the physical work?
No. Veristruct provides the engineering and the documentation. The physical work is carried out by your maintenance team or your contractors, and access, permits and isolations are arranged by site.
